Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Employees Hope National Spotlight Brings Attention to the City of Syracuse

Reported by: Kevin Wallace

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que was voted one of the top four Barbecue restaurants nationwide, according to voters polled by "Good Morning America". GMA plans to feature Dinosaur in an upcoming segment for the best barbecue in the country. Crews were in town today to tape the segment that will air on Saturday morning.

Employees are hoping this segment will help put the city of Syracuse on the map.

"It's great attention for Dino Bar-B-Que but it's also great for the city of Syracuse and it's residents. This segment is a great way for people to hear about our city and hopefully want to come see what it's all about," said Missy Schortemeier, waitress at Dinosaur.

Hundreds of residents and loyal customers came out this afternoon to show their support for their favorite Bar-B-Que in town.

"I'm from North Dakota and every time I come visit my dad I have to come here for the great pulled pork and ribs. The recognition is well deserved because it's the best Bar-B-Que I ever tasted," said Lisa Bilbo, Dinosaur customer.

Dinosaur is competing with Cousin's Barbeque in Fort Worth, Texas; Archibald's Barbeque in Northport, Ala.; and Woody's Smoke Shack in Des Monies, Iowa.

You can vote by going to abc.com and the winner will be announced on Sunday.
